PH Times
PH Times is Pei Hwa Secondary's journalism CCA, where students build photography, videography, and journalism skills through school events, competitions, and student-led projects.
Pei Hwa Times (PH Times) provides the opportunity for our members to develop technical skills about photography and videography. With these skills, our members will then have the opportunity to embark on a journalism journey; photojournalism and video journalism. We seek to help our members realise their potential and build resilience as well as confidence as they get their heart, head and hands on the journalism journey.
The CCA will enable our students to:
acquire and apply basic photography and videography knowledge and skills
demonstrate creativity through photography and videography activities
develop into being a team player and work collaboratively with others

CCA Activities
Our CCA members are given the opportunity to apply their photography and videography knowledge and skills in various platforms. This allows them to explore photojournalism, broadcast journalism and digital journalism. Some of the platforms are:

PH Times has made a big impact on my life. I got to learn so many new things and make new friends. I became a confident communicator and more socially capable rather than staying in my comfort zone. Not only have I got to earn the knowledge of journalism, but I also got to earn the hearts of my precious fellow teammates while working together. I have never felt so loved and welcomed by my seniors too. I can recall the numerous times I have volunteered in CCA activities. Every time I got to work with my friends, it gave me a memorable experience. It was the very first time I had come forward and stepped up. As the President of PH Times, I had the opportunity to dare to innovate and have the compassion to lead others. I have learnt many values and morals from leading this CCA. I appreciate all my teachers for giving me the love and support I needed when I needed help. My teachers are the reason I am doing my best. I cherish the time I have spent in this CCA. My CCA teachers are friendly and easy-going with students, and we get to have more freedom with group discussions and photo-shoots. I like the atmosphere where students get to work together effectively. As a CCA leader, I hope to challenge myself, as well as develop soft skills like communication skills and problem-solving skills. As a member of PH Times, I have acquired a lot of knowledge and skills which my teachers and seniors have taught me. I have been granted many opportunities to sharpen my skills and explore my interests in journalism. I have volunteered to take photos of school events on numerous occasions and have been both in front and behind the camera multiple times for videography and broadcast. For digital journalism, I have had a lot of practice during CCA sessions working on PHactors, a PH Times online production.
